Anaesthesia Machines and Stations

An Anaesthesia machine is a medical device used to generate and mix a fresh gas flow of medical gases and inhalational anesthetic agents for the purpose of inducing and maintaining anesthesia.

The machine is commonly used together with a mechanical ventilator, breathing system, suction equipment, and patient monitoring devices; strictly speaking, the term “anesthetic machine” refers only to the component which generates the gas flow.

The modern integrated anesthesia workstation is designed to be complete anesthesia and respiratory gas delivery and monitoring system. It combines advanced ventilation features, gas delivery, and agent vaporizing with patient monitoring and information management to form an integrated anesthesia care station.
